Ringtone Scam Costs AT&T $10 Million |

AT&T has been fined $10 million dollars by a Florida court for the illegal ringtone charges to customers monthly AT&T wireless bills.
{mosgoogle} The fine comes after it was determined that a third party partner of AT&T Wireless was falsely portraying their ringtone program as a free service to the companies wireless customers. An addition payment will go to the state of Florida in the amount of $2.5 million with another $500,000 being set aside for consumer education on safe Internet use. AT&T has announced that they have put new security steps into place which include billing explanations to ensure customers are not being misled by third party vendors. Florida is now investigating other wireless companies and their third party relationships. |
