$2.8 Billion dollars at the end of the second bidding round of the FCC 700mhz spectrum auction may seem like alot of money to own a small piece of wireless spectrum, but that number is only expect to grow as more bidders via for a chance to own a part of the space being persued by such powerhouses as Google Inc and Verizon Wireless.
The largest bids for spectrum space have continued to come from the controversely C-Block spectrum licenses. That particular block is expected to fetch a premium bid amount, and has been a main talking point for Google Inc. over the last few months. Current bidding has placed the block at $1.2 billion dollars, well below the auction reserve price of $4.6 billion dollars, a number that will surely be met in the coming rounds of bidding.
Aside from the C-Block bids that cover all 50 states, and allow for open access, bids also generated positive numbers for the A-Block and B-Block spectrums covering New York City received bids ranging from $49 billion to almost $100 million dollars.
Bidding will continue on Friday and resume after a weekend break the following Monday.
