The open access bid announcement comes only several weeks after Google released their Software Developer Kit for their Google Android Mobile Operating System, an operating system that also works on open access by creating a new Operating system based on the open source code of the Linux OS.
Details on how Google will use the open access spectrum are still vague, and with Google so far stating they do not plan on developing their own phones it has become even more of a mystery. One thing that is known, the move to buy the open access spectrum will definately pit the Internet giant against many of the wireless carriers who are supporting the companies move towards open access operating systems.
