Thursday, May 29th 2008 -- The Google I/O Conference held today showcased two new features for the soon to be released Google Android Mobile Operating System.

The first new feature is by far one of the coolest options developed for the OS so far, the feature is a gesture based unlock function. The function works by having users create a swiping pattern across their screen, when the user wants to unlock their mobile device they simply swipe their finger in the same pattern they created earlier and voila the phone is unlocked. The new capability should also help fight hacking attempts as no alpha numeric codes are used.

The second new feature allows users to follow city maps while their device keeps track of where they are in terms of the photographic image, the company feature also allows users to zoom in on map images and works alongside Google Maps.

Google did not however announce plans for the release of the new Google Android OS. They did though announce that the new Mobile Operating System is near completion.
