Verizon has jumped on the rumor mill when it comes to the new Google Operating System for Mobile Devices. The Wall Street Journal reported today that the wireless behemoth is in talks with Google to offer their highly customizable Operating system that will no doubt feature Google's ad heavy networking system.

While no official details have been provided at this point, estimates by industry experts are placing an annoucement date for partnerships at November, and a mid-late 2008 released date for devices selling the new operating system.
Its also reported that cellular carrier T-Mobile is in talks with Google to offer the Operating system on their own devices. If the deals come to fruition, it will be another step Google has taken to face Microsoft head on, in a field they currently hold the majority share in.
The Google OS is based on the Linux Operating system, thanks in large part to its open source programming capabilities and ease of use, Linux figures have recently shown an upswing in devices expected to carry the Linux platform in the coming months and years ahead.
The best part of the new Google System? It appears the company is working directly with OEM's and ODM's to customize the devices, thus ensure they will seemlessly fit into each companies and each devices own model of handling calls and data services, a move that may signal a new direction in open source programming among mobility providers.
