From its inception Disney Mobile has been a hit with critics and parents, unfortunately the Disney Group has not felt the same love for their product, announcing plans to halt their MVNO and move in a completely different direction, possibly leading to a partnership with one of the larger U.S. based cellular providers.

Disney launched their MVNO offering to acclaim by both critics, and parents who saught to keep an eye on their children, while offering an affordable alternative to cellular contracts. The Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) has said it is seeking alternatives for their current mobile content offerings.

In the meantime Disney will announce a reimbursement plan for "qualified" participants of Disney mobile on October 8th, 2007. Details of that plan can be found at that time on www.disneymobile.com. No mention has been given at this time as to who will be eligible for such rebates. One aspect is reassuring however, unlike Amp'd Mobile, who's MVNO was left with only $7,000 in the bank, Disney Mobile has the backing of their multi-billion dollar parent company for support.
