The internet is buzzing today on the cell phone front thanks to the announcement of the Nokia XpressMusic 5800, the first Symbian based Touchscreen device, and the first touchscreen unit offered by Nokia. The MusicXpress 5800 features Quad-bang GSM/Edge and dual-band 850/1900 MHz HSDPA 3G internet access. The unit also offers Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Assisted GPS (A-GPS) capabilities, and WiFi 802.11 b/g capabilities. The Nokia 5800 also features a 3.2 inch display that outputs at QVGA resolutions of 640 x 360. The screen is also touch-resistance based and offers haptic feedback for a more "realtime feedback feel." The unit will however offer a 3.5mm headset jack and a 3.2 megapixel camera that comes equipped with a Carl Zeiss Lens and offers dual LED Flashes. The device runs on Symbian S60 5th Edition that includes a new contact bars, media keys and a more intuitive user interface.  Throw in an 8GB microSDHC card slot for added memory capabilities up to 16GB and its easy to see where all the excitement is coming from. The device will be released sometime in Q4 2008 in Europe with an expected U.S. Release date of 2009. Pricing and other information are not known at this time.
