Nokia Siemens Networks has set a new speed record for Mobile Data networks, the new record reaches speeds up to 173mbps. The new speeds come from the next evolution in GSM technology known as Long Term Evolution or LTE for short. The new speed tests come only 1 year after Nokia Siemens Networks conducted the first LTE tests, at the time reaching speeds of 160mbps. The new technology will lend itself to better Voip service, faster web surfing and download times, better video sharing applications, and a host of other features that have become a standard in todays mobile environment. LTE is currently being conducted in the test phase, previous tests have included testers with data cards droving cars around the test cell, within distances ranging up to a 1 km radius of the test cell. New test areas will continue to be set up throughout Germany well into 2008. For more information visit the link below: Nokia Siemens Network LTE Press Release |
