New Qualcomm Chip to Support 700mhz Frequency

Qualcomm has announced that their new chipset will support the 700mhz frequency, a wireless spectrum that has recently been announced as an aquistion goal for Google, and part of which will be available to open access abilities.

The Qualcomm chipset known as RTR6570 will be a single-chip quad band receiver and will support CDMA2000 and WCDMA devices. It will also operate on the 850, 1700, 1900 and 2100 MHz bands.

The new chip will be available by the middle of 2008 for sampling and testing purposes and is expected to go live in early 2009.
