Qualcomm has announced that their new WCDMA chipsets are ready for production. The new chips do not infringe upon Broadcom patents as they had in previous efforts, while still offering the same specifications and sizes needed for implementation by manufacturers.

The same size and technology standard is an important aspect of the chipsets, as they will ensure manufacturers need not worry about changing any of their own technical aspects in order to implement the new Qualcomm chipsets.

Qualcomm is expecting the chips to be ready for implementation by the end of 1st quarter 2008. The chips will be shipped to U.S. customers and were not necessary in the rest of the world, where the court ruling over patent infringements was not fealt.
