Thursday, May 15th 2008 -- Research in Motion, makers of the ultra popular Blackberry handheld units have announced plans to release their first ever touchscreen device, a unit that has been named the Thunder.

The first ever Blackberry Touch Screen will be available solely through Verizon Wireless and Vodafone, an odd move considering Verizon runs on a CDMA network while Vodafone features a GSM structure, a move that has lead many experts be believe the unit will be a dual mode GSM/CDMA device.
RIM also announced that the unit will features 3G wireless data access and that the device it is believed will feature improved battery technologies, an enriched browser experience for online use, and faster processing speeds, although no specifics have been announced for the RIM Thunder at this time.
