Tuesday, July 15th 2008 -- Cellular Device manufacturer Sony Ericsson according to Reuters is in the midst of considering a buyout of Spice Mobile. The Cell phone manufacturer is based in India and controls much of the market in that region, a move that could help Sony Ericsson quickly expand their reach.

According to the report, Spice Mobile could see Sony Ericsson purchase a majority stake in the company, rather than an outright buyout. The move would not only put Sony Ericsson in the Indian market, it would also give them new manufacturer facilities and insight into the Spice mobile technologies.

Sony Ericsson may also be considering the buyout after two straight quarters of lowered results and an overall decline in Sony Ericsson mobile phone interest. The buyout would occur through BK Modi Group which controls 64% of Spice Mobile.
