Sprint Wirless can't seem to get anything right in regards to their network lately, several weeks after announcing the deterioration of their partnership with Clearwire and their WiMax network, the federal government has come forward and threatened to shut down the wireless carriers iDen network in many parts of the country.

The proposed shutdown was spurred after Sprint was slow in moving the frequency of their iDen network. The network interfers in some areas with emergency broadcast stations that run on or near the 800mhz frequency, of which Sprint's iDen network occupies part of that frequency space.
The move has already cost Sprint an estimated $1 billion dollars, and the company has stated that shutting down that aspect of their business will affect upwards of 20 million subscribers across the country. The company has filed for relief with the U.S. Court of Appeals.
