Wednesday, March 26th 2008 -- Sprint and Clearwire ended their partnership towards a nationwide WiMax network in late 2007, but recently it appears the companies are back on track, now seeking the support and backing of several of the nations largest cable companies.
{mosgoogle} Sprint and Clearwire are currently in talkes with Comcast and Time Warner Cable, a move they hope will garner much needed support and capital for the development of their nationwide wireless WiMax network. While the negotiations are calling for funding from the two media conglomerates, Sprint and Clearwire have stated that they will solely run the nationwide network. Sprint and Clearwire had agreed to develop a national WiMax network in mid-2007, a partnership that last less than 6 months and forced the two companies to begin work on their own much smaller metropolitan WiMax networks. While they have yet to announced the return of their partnership in any legal sense, they have stated that they are currently working towards raising the estimated $3 billion they estimate the project will cost, only part of which will come from Comcast and Time Warner Cable. |
