Its been a busy week for the cellular industry when it comes to Early Termination Fees, yesterday T-Mobile announced that they would begin to offer prorated ETF's to customers, and today Sprint has followed suit, becoming the fourth large carrier in the last 6 months to implement a proration plan for early termination fees on customer contracts, while also promising to fix customer service related issues that have plagued the company, especially over the last several months.

The proration plan will not begin for Sprint Customer until 2008, and details of the plan will not be released until next year. What is known is that the company will also overhaul their customer service department, creating a more friendly environment for their customers, their new implementation plans will include calling customers to welcome them into the Sprint network, as well as sending notifications when customers have begun to incur large overage fees. New Customers on the Sprint network will also finally begin to receive discounts on new handsets.

The move comes months after Sprint went under fire for cancelling the contracts of customers who called into the Sprint Customer service, what Sprint deemed to many times. Sprint follows in order, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, in terms of announcing the implementation of such plans. Verizon began offering their proration plan to new customers over 6 months ago. A call to AT&T customer service revealed that their program will begin in January of 2008, with T-Mobile and Sprint both gearing up for a 2008 release of their own Early Termination Fees Proration plans.
