Sprint WiMax Network Delayed Until 2009

WiMax from Sprint Wireless has been highly anticipated for several years, and it now appears that anticipation will continue at least into 2009.

A spokesperson for Sprint Wireless has confirmed that Sprint's Xohm WiMax network will not launch in April 2008 as was originally planned. The delay according to Sprint is occuring because their Clearwire, Intel and other partnerships have yet to be finalized a partnership

During CTIA Sprint did not make any major Xohm announcements. The Sprint representative did say however that the delay is in no way related to any technical aspects of the network, and that Sprint is working at a steady pace to ensure a smooth launch to meet high expectations, rather that launching an unstable network.
