On September 21st 2008 Verizon Wireless is expected to announce their new no-contract postpaid cell phone plans.  Under the companies new open network users will be able to bring their own devices to the table, or buy devices from Verizon Wireless at full cost.

While a contract will not be necessary customers will still be subject to an activation fee and they'll still have to have a credit check run since they will still be on a postpaid payment system.

Under the plan customers will be able to cancel at anytime without paying ETF fees or worrying about contract extensions.
