Verizon Wireless Will Extend LTE Technology Via 700mhz Spectrum

Monday, April 7th 2008 -- Verizon Wireless has released their intentions for the C block of spectrum they won with their bid in the recent FCC spectrum auctions.

Verizon has announced that the won spectrum will be used to develop and expand their Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. A network that will help usher in the age of 4G data services via mobile devices. The C Block won by Verizon wireless will help to expand their spectrum allowance from an average of 52 MHz to 82 MHz.

The exact launch of the Verizon Wireless 4G network has not been nailed down at this point, however Verizon has stated plans to launch the LTE network by 2010.
