Yahoo Inc. furthered their mobile web directives today when they announced the ability for users to send text messages to mobile devices, directly from their yahoo mail accounts.

The program will be free to Yahoo mail customers, however standard off network text messaging rates will apply to the receiving mobile user.

The Yahoo text messaging program also allows user to convert their messages between formats, for example, a user can convert an email into text messaging conversations, or change their email into a text message with a simple click of the mouse.

Yahoo is currently working to form an alliance with AT&T in the United States and Rogers Communications in Canada. The full rollout will arrive this fall, offering alternatives to small business customers as well.
