The Sprint version of the HTC Touch Pro is finally shipping with the steep discounts promised by the wireless company last month.  While the device sells for a base retail price of $579.99 Sprint customers can now receive an instant rebate in the amount of $180. While an additional mail in rebate of $100 will help push the device to a more manageable $299.99.

Sprint Wireless customers won't be getting their hands on a Google Android based phone anytime in the near future. This week Dan Hesse, the CEO of the North American based CDMA wireless company said Sprint doesn't believe the Android Operating system is  ready for use on the Sprint Network. Hesse wouldn't give a time frame, or even let customers known why the Android system needs improvement before its rollout.

Sprint users will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the CDMA version of the HTC Touch Pro.  The pocket pc device was expected for this Sunday, but officials over at Sprint Wireless are now saying that the companies is "slightly delaying" the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional device long enough to ensure all of their distribution channels are ready to deliver the units to all of their customers at one time.

Sprint Wireless has never been a company to stick to traditional device colors when releasing even the most popular phones on their network, so it should come as no surprise that the company today announced two new Palm Centro colors: Vibrant Rose (we call it pink) and Olive Green.

Sprint Wireless has announced that customers using their Sprint Music download service will no longer receive a second copy of their songs for play on their PC Desktops.  According to the Sprint Wireless Music website  "Beginning October 15, 2008, Sprint Music Store purchases will no longer include a second PC copy. All Sprint Music Store purchases will continue to be conveniently delivered directly to your Sprint handset."

Sprint Wireless announced MyMoneyManager this week a free banking application that allows customers at several large banks to take care of their banking needs directly from their devices.  The MyMoneyManager allows Sprint users to view account balances, pay bills, transfer money, view account transactions, and even find close by ATM's and their banks brances.

Currently 4 banks are participating and include: Citybank, PNC Bank, IBC Bank and BB&T banks, with more to follow down the road.

Several months ago we reported that Sprint Wireless was looking to raise capital through the sale of their wireless tower infrastructure which they would then lease back from the purchasing company. Today Sprint has announced that they have successfully sold their towers to TowerCo for $670 million dollars while also securing a lease agreement that will allow the company to continue offering cellular service to their customer base.

Sprint Wireless has made it official, the company will be receiving the ultra popular HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional based pocket pc's.  Both devices offer Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, 3.2 mega pixel cameras that include autofocus, WiFi 802.11 b/g, GPS, Opera Mini browsers with Opera 9.5, and TouchFlo 3D.  While the Touch Pro also adds a sliding qwerty keyboard. Both devices will feature CDMA technologies.

Sprint Wireless has announced the next cellular phone for their iDen network. According to the cellular company the Blackberry 8350i will feature GPS connectivity, WiFi via 802.11 b/g certified WLAN and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP stereo streaming bluetooth support.

The 8350i will also feature a 2 megapixel camera, along with a dedicated 2.5mm headset jack, and the ability to add up to 16GB of memory via an included MicroSDHC card slot.

The Sprint Wireless HTC Touch Diamond CDMA Version has seen its fair share of internet rumored release dates, however it finally seems as if PC Magazine has landed the actual release date. If everything goes as planned the Sprint Touch Diamond will be released on September 14th, 2008.

Sprint Wireless details for two new HTC releases leaked onto the internet recently. The device in question are the HTC Touch Pro, an ultra popular Quad-Band GSM device that features a sliding qwerty keyboard, and the HTC Touch Diamond, an HTC Device that features HTC TouchFlo 3D Technology on a slimline device with GPS capabiltities.

Thursday, August 14th 2008 --  Sprint Nextel will no longer be offer PCS Mail services to their customers according to a recent Sprint press release. Sprint however is giving customers directions on how to migrate their email accounts to other services.  Sprint PCS mail allowed users to receive @sprintpcs.com email addresses.  Sprint Nextel officials did not give a reason for the cancellation of the service.

Friday, August 8th 2008 -- CNBC reported today that Sprint Wireless is in talks with several private investors to sell off the companies iDEN network, an aging telecom system the company acquired with the purchase of Nextel Wireless. Tuesday, July 29th 2008 -- Sprint Wireless is continuing to face adverse conditions, this time after a California court ruled that the companies early termination fees violate California state law.

The ruling judge however has said he will look to bring other national carriers before the court under similar charges that their early termination fees also violate state laws.

Sprint has two weeks to file an appeal in regards to the case.

Friday, July 25th 2008 -- In a successful attempt to raise capital Sprint Wireless has announced that they have sold off "nearly all" of their cell phone towers to TowerCo for $670 million dollars in cash. According to Bob Azzi of Sprint Wireless the company will now lease back their towers from TowerCo who will not only hold a full controlling interest in the towers, but will also be responsible for the maintenance of the towers. In total almost 3,300 towers were sold.

Thursday, July 17th 2008 -- While the internet rumor mill may have been a buzz with talks of an SK Telecom buyout of Sprint / Nextel it has now been confirmed that those rumors are in fact false. SK Telecom released a statement today stating that the company is not interested in taking over a controlling stake in the company.
