Verizon Wireless Begins Offering No Contract Month-To-Month Plans

As we reported last week Verizon Wireless has officially announced their new month to month plans with no contract.  The new plans include no early termination fees, but also require customers to bring their own devices into the mix or purchase a Verizon capable CDMA phone at full cost, which can be quite costly. 

Current Verizon customers will of course have to live out their contract before they can jump ship to the month to month calling program.

Verizon Wireless To Begin Offering No Contract Postpaid Plans

On September 21st 2008 Verizon Wireless is expected to announce their new no-contract postpaid cell phone plans.  Under the companies new open network users will be able to bring their own devices to the table, or buy devices from Verizon Wireless at full cost.

While a contract will not be necessary customers will still be subject to an activation fee and they'll still have to have a credit check run since they will still be on a postpaid payment system.

Verizon Wireless Named Top Call Quality Cellular Company

J.D. Power and Associates have concluded their study on national wireless carriers, and it turns out that CDMA carrier Verizon Wireless offers the best call quality according to actual users. 

The study which was broken down into regions gave Verizon Wireless the first place ranking in the West Regions, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Northeast, and a tie was awarded with Sprint Wireless in the Southwest.

Verizon Wireless Completes Takeover Of Rural Cellular

Thursday, August 7th 2008 --  Its official, Verizon Wireless has announced the completion of their takeover bid for Rural Cellular, a GSM carrier under the Unicel brand. Because of the takeover Verizon will receive 625,000 new customers and area licenses that cover 4.7 million people.  Current standing Rural Cellular stores will soon receive Verizon Wireless branding and customers will slowly be converted over to CDMA service.

Verizon Wireless Buyout Of Rural Cellular Gets FCC Approval

Monday, August 4th 2008 -- Verizon Wireless was given FCC approval today in their attempt to purchase Rural Cellular. Just as Verizon was asked to do with their recent announcement of an Alltel buyout the companies will both be forced to sell off licenses in several different markets.

Verizon Wireless Pays $21 Million To Settle ETF Class Action Lawsuit

Sunday, June 13th 2008 --  Verizon Wireless has agreed to settle their early termination fees class action lawsuit for $21 million, a sum much less than the originally reported asking amount of $1 billion.

 

Verizon Wireless spokepeople meantime downplayed the settlement, actually stating that they settled because it "was a distraction" and that the $21 million was a "quick way to resolve it"
